It's been 13 years since I cut myself. It's been about 5 years since I wanted to cut myself.

Just taking a deep breath and helping myself realize that I have, indeed, come a long way. I still have a lot of work and healing to do, but I have come through so much already, and that alone is an accomplishment and something to be thankful for.

Also, to let you all know, it can be done. You can stop cutting and even lose the desire to cut. Just like any other addiction, it can be beaten, but it's definitely not easy.

We can do it together.

Wow, I hope to someday be able to say that I no longer want to, or do cut. Seems like that's a long, long way off though

Congrats. You have accomplished tons.I don't cut either. Haven't for at least 10 yrs. About a year since beaten on myself. But I still want to do both.I think the desire might never go away. My Grandpa stopped smoking for half his life but told me he still wanted a cigarette every day.

I'm not saying that I don't crave other things to help me get through my issues, but I don't really think about cutting anymore. When things are really bad, I will think about maybe trying drugs (legal or not) or alcohol or cigarettes something like that, but I don't do it. So I still crave other things, just not cutting.
