Will this depression ever go away? Will these urges to SI ever stop? I am not strong enough to deal with the urges. I want to give up.

Thanks for your reply. I am feeling better this morning. My goal is to make it through the day with no SI.

Do you have a therapist?

you're not a failure. you're still here. and that's what counts. i cut too. reason why? cause it makes me feel something. i have trouble "feeling" i guess, and with cutting, it helps me feel like i have control of something. i don't know what but makes me feel like i have a grip on things. last time i cut? early jan. at that point i was tired of cutting and i wanted to do something new.

i tried cooking. with cooking, i try to cook good food that i would be proud of. with that i feel more control now too. i mean, i still think about cutting now and then but at that point i just think of making something really ****ing tasty. maybe try finding something that gives you joy/pleasure or to get your mind off of things.

cutting veggies is more enjoyable than cutting myself. and plus, i get something tasty in the end. at least, that's how i look at it now.

hang in there!

I didn't cut for years but have started back at it. I definitely know what you mean by feeling helpless when you don't control the urge. But a lot of it is not being able to focus your emotions or know what they're about. So I like ColourBars idea of finding something else to do when you feel the urge to SI. I can't take that specific advice because my cooking is a form of hurting myself in itself lol (really not a good cook), but I hope you find something that works for you without leaving scars.

Are you working in therapy on the issues that are causing your SI urges?

T today went pretty well. We've been talking about it. My t also just referred me to a group therapy which is supposed to work on emotional regulation and coping skills. The group starts in April. I am excited and nervous at the same time to go to this group. I am hopeful that it will help.

I started a thread with this exact same title a while back.... I didn't get the answer I wanted, wanted to hear yes it ends and this is how to get to that place.

But not to be totally negative, maybe these feelings will never completely go away but maybe we can learn to live with them without them controlling us.
