My T has known me for quite a few years. She knows I si at times. When we talk about it I am not sure that I get her to understand that I know it is a unhealthy coping skill, but it is what works at the time. I have tried to explain it to her but I dont explain it very well, the thoughts and emotions that go along with si that is. She never really discusses it with me. She asks if I have since I last saw her. I tell her yes or no, she makes a notation in her book and then on to different topics. Why do people not really want to talk about it, other t's I have had have been the same way. It seems to me they think if we dont talk about it it doesnt exist.

They sound like crap therapists.
Mine is really good and talks about it, but she has this nice attitude about her and the way she puts forward suggestions, that make it sound nice and that I want to actually try.

Do you work on the issues that trigger your SI like expressing your feelings?

I agree about the mental health workers in my area are not the best, but I dont have a lot of choices here. There just not that many here and some of them I will not see.
We do work on expressing feelings, but I have to be carefull what I say or they try and admit you to the local mental health unit. |
