Do you find or feel that even though you will get some relief after self harming, that it's difficult to make yourself do it?

When I want to self harm, even though I know I'll feel better after I do it, I still find it hard to purposely hurt myself. I mean, it's not agony or anything, just soreness and discomfort, but I still have to talk myself into it.
