I can't explain "why". I just have an intense urge to chomp down as hard as I can on a body part ~ a limb, tongue, cheek, or whatever. The urge to do it is VERY strong!!

I keep biting on my finger to alleviate my desire. While I'd love to chomp it off, I also realistically know that I'd have to bite really freaking hard for that to occur! Instead, the bite would probably be more superficial than anything else, and what's the point in that??!

How do I get past these intense urges without actually giving into my urges?

Is there something that you can chomp on that you could pretend is a body part? I know that's weird, but maybe a rolled up textured towel or something? (so you don't hurt your teeth...) I don't know. I have not had the urge to do something like that, so I haven't tried anything to not do it, but that's what I would do. Or wrap the towel around a baby carrot? That's finger sized, and then you would really have to chomp to break the carrot. That may be the dumbest suggestion, but whatever it takes, right? Sorry if this doesn't help. Thinking of you though.

The towel wrapped around a baby carrot does sound like an interesting idea, Wolfin3.

That struggle might work for me. Thanks for the idea.

Sorry to hear you're feeling this way shezbut - i first had a problem with biting when my bottom wisdom teeth were coming through, my jaw ached so bad i had to try and get rid of that sensation. Ever since then its become a bit of a habbit. Perhaps chewing your way through an apple or some toffee might help - any type of food thats quite tough and chewy should do the trick. Really hope you find peace, all the best
Thanks for this!
