So today this boy that I am sort of started to like noticed the cuts on my arm....he asked what happened and I just looked at him with a cry of help.....he looked at me for a second then realized what I was doing....he said "oh, I use to do that too", gave me a smile, then looked away.... for some reason, that gave me hope.... to know that even he had done it and stiled gave me hope..... <3 <3 <3

There are a lot more people than you think that have done SI to varying degrees. If this is a guy that you think you like, I urge you to be careful. Sometimes two people with a similar problem can help eachother out of it, but they can also start to share the affliction. I can tell you from personal experience that self destructive behavior between two people who feel connected can wind up making it into a shared secret. Something to do together rather than each urging eachother to get help. I'm glad that you didn't get the brush off though. There can be something attractive about dark and broody, especially when you are younger, but finding your way out of the urge to cut yourself is much longer lasting, and in the end, happier. (My computer is on the fritz, so excuse the lack of paragraphs). I know this sounds parental, which is probably not what you were looking for. As difficult as it may be, use this as a stepping stone to find out why you are cutting. Your friend might have some insights of his own. Take care of yourself. Sam2
