For the past week, at work, I been having the urge to go into the bathroom, open up a paper clip and just scratch up my arms. Yes work has been bringing me down. I feel it is better than cutting or burning but yet it will still serve its purpose. Right now I just think about doing it. I haven't. People think about doing lots of things, like killing someone or pushing someon down the stairs but that does not mean there is anything wrong with them.

Thinking about it may actually help you avoid actual harm. Sometimes letting yourself fantasize step by step scenerios will make you feel a little better without actually going ahead with the harm.
Try to avoid even small scratches. Once you start something like that, it can easily escalate and be very hard to stop. It doesn't mean you are crazy or weak. Its just a symptom of emotional pain. People handle it in different ways. Some drink, some take drugs, some excersise etc. If you can find something that will give you the release that self harm does, that would be better for you. Power walking or running will cause the same endorphin release as when you harm yourself, but its doing something positive instead of punishing yourself. Sam2 |

People have thousands of thoughts a day and they arent all good. We just dont act on them all, thankfully. You can think what ever you want, what is important is what you do. As Abraham Lincoln said...when i do bad, i feel bad. when i do good, i feel good. So just make sure you actions are in line with the way you want to feel. i havent self harmed in forever, but it shocks me how often i still think about self harming. I just dont do it. You can not do it too.
