Sometimes I'll scratch my scalp until it bleeds when it itches. More recently I've started picking at my legs, and the sight of blood doesn't stop me.
I only do it out of boredom, and it rarely hurts, though I stop if it does. Is this SI, or could it lead to SI if I keep doing it?

Thanks. I'd never even heard of dermatillomania before. Now some of the other things I do make more sense. In addition to the above, I rub and pick at my face, scratch my hands with my teeth, and instead of washing, I tend to pick off dirt and grime.
So, yeah. I didn't realize it was all part of the same thing.

If your intention is to hurt yourself, then yes, it's self-injury. If not then no it isn't.

I don't try to hurt myself, so I guess that's my question answered. Thanks.
