So i've got two itties (one in kindergarten, one a toddler - neither are mine I don't have kids) that T and I already know i've developed this sense of responsibility for. We're pretty close and if I ever had my own place, I have no doubt they'd be there quite often (they are closely related).

I recently installed a lock in my room (isolation issues), and i'm usually hyperaware of things when KindyItty is around because 1) ANYTHING i do, she does (and she'll tell you she does it because Teal does it) and 2) I already know they're going to grow up screwed up - I just don't want to be part of their memories (Teal used to cut herself, etc.).

Anyways, KindyItty came in my room today just to hang and I took a second to just admire how sweet she was wearing my headband, eating the chocolates that I keep laid out for her, chilling on my bed, playing with my knick knacks, and I had that total "Oh #&@%" moment when I remembered my razor blade was somewhere close to where she was.

I casually started "tidying up" and removed it, my scissors, peroxide, etc. and I don't think she noticed. Sometimes I worry that I am too messed up of a person to be around anybody......even if I am their best option of having a "semi" happy childhood.

Anyone else have itties around? Do you have a lockbox of sorts, or anything to keep them from being exposed to this unnecessary madness?

Yeah, I used have my 2 and 3 year old nice and nephew around a lot. I had to learn to keep things given our out of reach. Glad you got the box, but sad you need it.
