I ended up cutting last night in my usual spot, but then I started playing with the incision from my spleen removal from December. It has already not healed well, so it opened too easily. I put antibiotic ointment on it and guaze but now this morning it looks nasty. Ughh, makes me want to kick myself.

Can you go to the doctor to get help with the incision?

I'm going to the doctor today anyway so I'll probably just ask him to take a look at it to see if anything needs to be done.

That sounds like a good decision. Do you have a good rapport with him?

I do have a good rapport with him, but still chickened out. We ended up getting too focused on making sure I didn't have another blood clot, that I didn't want to bother him with that. I've been putting antibiotic ointment on it still, but I know it's not going to heal right again.

I really don't know what to do. It's about 1-1 1/2 inches deep and maybe 1/2-1 inches length. I don't want to go to my doctor again and admit that I severely screwed up. I've been still using ointment and irrigated it with half hydrogen peroxide, half water, and covered it up.
Thanks for this!

I think self care isn't going to help you much in this situation. It really sounds like you need to see a doctor. Please take care and try to see someone. Some things are too much for us to take care of on our own. I know it's hard, but please get some help for this.

I called my surgeon nurse and spoke to her but she said just to keep it clean, and call if it keeps oozing or starts hurting. I think I might just have to go to the er about it if it doesn't do anything. The incision itself doesn't hurt but I have an ache now and just don't feel good but that's probably my anxiety.

I'm glad you called someone If you're still not sure though then go to the ER to get it checked out

I told my therapists about it yesterday and today, and they were both very concerned about how far I went this time with the cutting. I'm just keeping it clean as I can since I've been told that it's too late to stitch it up.
