So not exactly on the topic of depression but on a very similar topic- self harm. During the past year I have been struggling with cutting and in the past months it's gotten very bad to the point where I needed to throw out what I was using. But now I have nothing and I have more urges than ever and I'm stuck. What can I do to subside the urges? (I'm only 15 by the way)

Immerse your head in VERY cold water (no joke).
Do vigorous exercise (at least 20 minutes with your heart rate up) Listen to comedy (pandora) or watch a movie that is OPPOSITE of your current emotion. It may sound simplistic. But it can help. BTW - all stolen from my DBT therapy. |

These things have worked for me:
-Snap a rubber band on your wrist (not too hard). -"Cut" with red pen or marker (test it on your finger or something first to make sure it will wash off!). -The Butterfly Project (google it! It's pretty cool). -Draw or write stuff, such as quotes, where you want to cut. -Watch funny YouTube videos. -Count how many hours/days/weeks/months it has been since the last time you cut. Remind yourself how much you want to make it to the next milestone! -Have a goal, like, if I make it until June 1st without cutting then I'll celebrate by going out to eat. Then set a new goal! I hope these help. ![]()
