I've been putting this off since Monday and can't stand it anymore. I don't want to dissapoint my counselor I will see on Saturday, but I need to cut to feel the comfort of the healing. I don't how he is going to help me with this anyway until I want to stop. Has anyone had help from a therapist? What did they do?

well... first-you know why we go to get help-
we want a way OUT of the situarion! if you really want a way out you can eecide you don`t do it.... i understand you becasue i had the same desier... saw that piece of glass on teh floor-felt like picking it up and scratch nyself with it..... first-if it`s a GOOD conselor he is suposed to LISTEN to you! but still the work is yours... he may ask you how you did it before and such.... he is supposed to help you help yourself. he is supposed to know what`s causing the desier and help you cure that bad feeling and help you get rid of thoughts that make that feeling up. now-that`s great you don`t want to dissapoint your onselor- i didn`t wat to dispoint mine also! but i understand you and i found out that we as humans have the tendancy to make it all even worse by htings like "ALL i can think about is cutting"-without even knowing it! maybe say "haugh of teh day i htink about cutting" then "particulary i think about cutting" there are times i hting about cutting" and you BELIEVE it wen you say it. becasue most of what we say i think we also believe in it don`t we? i have found that lettingog also helps. like:you have the desier to cut. it`s infront ot you. you don`t make it bigger by saying "i want to do it al the time ho God what can i do" (here you put yourself in a low posiitons) but don`t fight it either ("i hate it i want to thow it away") becasue then it gets right back at you. you need to relax to become indefferent. if you relax and say "i let it go i don`t care about it anymoer that much it can`t hurt me can`t do anyhting to me..." then it actually is going away. becasue you let it. i know it seems hard but this method of letting go is not as pathetic as it seems to be at the begining, it is actually good and can help with ANAYHTING you don`t want to have in your life! i hope that by this time you haven`t hurt yourself and found somehting better to do ![]() good luck with your conselor i hope he will help you |
