ok im going to start by saying sorry for posting this ,i couldnt find answers anywhere else and its bugging me ,so here goes , I have been cutting on and off for 30 years and have always always cut in same places and in same way . couple of days ago i began to cut in a different way (same place ) this was not premeditated and i am basically asking , is this significant in any way ? seems kind of strange if not , sorry cant be more specific as do not want to trigger anyone. thoughts would be appreciated thanks

I think it would be significant as it would indicate a different mindset as to your past cutting. not knowing your past mindset compared to your current mindset, but something has changed for you to change your pattern. hopefully it hasn't become more harmful. if you are ever interested in exploring more, there is a good book called the scarred soul. I worked through it. it was very non-threatening. I made it through all the way to the chapter where you make the decision to stop cutting and I couldn't do that. but then I didn't cut for over five years. then I relapsed briefly and now its been like seven since I have cut. so it really helped. take care of yourself.

hey kaliope thank you for replying ,that makes sense the only major change recently has been another dx , bpd i agree with this 100% but have struggled a bit to accept it. i have been in a darker place i guess.
