How can I tell if my cuts are going to scar permanently or long term? The most recent ones are 2/3 days old, are still red and the skin is still very slightly risen. It is on my forearm. Is there a way to know if it will leave long term scars?

I don't know. All of mine have left scars. The old ones make fine spiderweb patterns on my skin that aren't really visible to anyone but me. I try to stick to areas where no one will see the scars now.

Maybe it's because I'm younger, but I noticed that on my arms scars stay longer than on my leg. Could also be different build up?

I have scars from when I was younger and the vast majority were not so easy to see once the cut healed. Now that I am older, I see them reappear as my skin is thinning. Even little nicks are there. I am 61. It doesn't look good.

my scars are very visible and it seems like everything scars, horrible dark lines - let them heal and try not to make any more - you deserve better care than that...

and yes i still fall off the wagon at times - but i try again and again and one day i will succeed to permanently stop

There's no way to tell 100% for sure, but usually if the edges of the cut touch, there won't be a scar. A scar is formed when your body has to grow new skin (scar tissue) to fill the gap between the edges of the cut. If that makes sense.
