During my session on Friday with T1, I confided in him that a month ago, I had used a scalpel instead of my typical blades to SH. I was caught off guard when he asked how I liked using it compared to my blades. He said he knew it was a weird question, but that he was trying to get inside my head. Anyone's T's ever asked a question like that?

I have been asked by other cutters that question, except I use a box cutter instead. It felt really weird talking to them about it, so I mostly answer it vaguely then move on. I didn't like that kind of question, personally.

It's a very weird question, and I don't know his intention besides he said he was trying to get in my head and see how I'm feeling. I wonder if it's because the SH has increased over the past few months, and a scalpel isn't my typical tool.

That could definitely be a reason why he asked. I know my T asked why I switched tools and did it feel different. For me it did feel good and bad at the same time that I had moved up in tools. I think your T had very good intentions behind the question. If you don't mind me by asking, did you answer? You don't have to say what what it was.

I just told him that it wasn't much different than using my blade, and that I threw it away because I was worried that if I kept using it, I'd do worse damage with it. I know he tries to keep a close eye on my SH now because of my past.

I "upgraded" to a scalpel recently, too, and told my T. It's weird because mine asks a lot of questions about it, including if I liked it better. It makes me uncomfortable to be asked all those questions, but it's kind of nice. His openness in asking questions makes me feel like it's okay for me to be more open and honest, too. Plus they make me analyze and think about SH in ways I otherwise might not.
