my boyfriend knows about my cutting. and hes ok about it. but keeps getting worried. i dont want him to worry. i dunno if he understands that much about why i do it. i dont know how to explain it to him... please help

Hey sami. I'm sorry you're going through this. It seems like he cares for you very much, since he is worrying.

Maybe you can explain to him on a basic level why you do. Like for relief from emotional pain, or to feel something when you feel nothing, etc whatever your basic reason is. Maybe the next time you want to cut, you can go to him and tell him what you are feeling and how cutting would help and maybe he can understnad more in the actual moment, and maybe he can help you not cut. I'm sorry I don't have much experience in this, but that's the best I can offer.

Try to talk to him. If he likes to read, see if he'd be willing to read a book on self-injuring so that way he'd know what you're going through. There's a couple listed in the rating section here.

I'm glad he's okay with it, good news to have some support IRL.
