Every couple weeks I wake up in the morning to see what looks like gashes at least a few inches long. If this is relevant they are vertical. Don't recall how they got there. Is it possible they could just be I scratched myself really hard in my sleep? I do know the marks are not flat. They are raised a bit. The marks are a darkish red. Okay darkish is not a word but don't know how else to describe the color. Is this enough info for you? Going on for several years. Is it possible to self harm in one's sleep?

im not sure... might be worth seeing a doctor and checking there isnt an underlying medical reason for the marks. i haven't heard of SI during sleep before.. is there something sharp in your bed, like an escaped bed spring which might be doing it?

Thanks PONR and Shattered Sanity for responding. Reason for not getting back to you before is I was feeling too down to respond. My sister Roz told me our dad's lady friend passed away yesterday.
