Does anyone else work a full time office job. ..like career wise and have massive visible scars like me? I have terrible scars especially on my forearms and one on my cheek. I have a professional job, and I don't really hide my b scars but I always wonder what my Co-workers think.

I'm not able to work any more, but I'm sensitive in particular about children seeing my scars. If I'm going to expose them much I use skin camouflage. It makes them much less visible and lasts all day (2 or 3 days on some places) and doesn't come off when swimming or careful showering.

I wear sleeves that are long enough to cover the tattoo on my upper right arm but otherwise, I let the scars show, because it's too hot in Florida to wear long sleeves all year round. I also wear skirts to work because it's a pretty conservative office and my scars on my legs show as well.

I don't really care that they show but at the same time I'm self conscious about them. It's weird.

I feel a bit the same, sometimes I think what the heck! Other times people ask or if I'm around young kids I don't want to have to evade their curiosity. Hmmm. I suppose I feel people should accept me scars or no scars, but sometimes I don't want to be noticed because of them. Then the skin camouflage helps me feel less conspicuous. It's just a very hard wearing sort of makeup like people would use in films and is blended to match my skin tone. I think it can be used to a certain extent to cover uneven texture too.

I'm glad you feel you can be yourself with them even if the feeling's mixed.

I only have one visible scar on my forearm. It's pretty obvious it was self inflicted. When my co-worker saw it, she reported me to my superiors. It was a mess. Guess I learned my lesson. Thinking about having it covered with a tattoo once it's a year old.

When I worked, if anyone asked about my scars, it really depended on who was asking and what their intention was. If someone was just being nosey or rude, I would answer something like "why do you ask?" That would keep the nosey people quiet. I learned not to be ashamed, as even the scars served a purpose at the time.

Yeah, I don't know why I worry about it because no one has asked. I guess I'm just self conscious about that.

The one thing that is weird that of people who do ask the one thing I have noticed is that it's normally elderly people, like people who have a grandma or grandpa vibe to them, and it's like they don't have any boundaries or know what healthy boundaries are....like you don't ask complete strangers about their scars...just like you don't ask a person with a service dog what their disability is...geez...

Thanks all for your comments. Glad to know I'm not alone.

You're lucky, Janae, that they aren't visible. I wish I had had enough forethought when SHing to make them invisisble...Just like I wish I had put my tattoos in easier places to hide, lol.
