I relapsed for the first time in a year tonight and I am so disappointed in myself.

When this happens we do feel depressed. The fact that you didn't do it for a whole year is a good sign. You can build on this. Eventually you may find that it will be longer and longer between slips until eventually this becomes a thing in your past. Consider this a slip up. Maybe you can use this event to put more strategies in place and remind yourself of the things that helped you to avoid doing this.
When this happened to me recently my p'doc suggested that when I get to this point that I should take a cold shower for as long as I could stand it, I mean no warm water at all...... and this then becomes a distraction for the body and will divert the mind/emotions. Relapsing is a sign that maybe we aren't coping as well as we normally would. Maybe this is the time to reach out to a professional or some-one you trust? We are always here. |

I'm sorry this happened, strugglingteen. The Skeezyks sends healing thoughts your way with the hope that you can focus on your year of success rather than on this one event.
