A while back at work i dropped hot noodles on my hand....long story...they were extremely hot because stupid me put them in for 2 minutes and forgot. Well they caused a long burn line on my wrist and a burn on dot my wrist. The people (my x, parents) who do know i self injure almost dont believe it was really an accident. I havent self injured in awhile ...yey for me ....its kinda frusteratiing and makes me want to cut anyway. Anyone expeirence that???

At some point I'd start getting snide with people! I mean, come on, there are "better" ways to burn yourself than with hot noodles at lunch? :-) And directly on your hand where they can see? Do they think you have no pride anymore?

Congratulations on not having SI'd for awhile, that is wonderful! "We" know it was an accident, to heck with them.

Great job on not injuring for awhile, Inny. For the last couple months I have been injuring frequently, but when I'm not, my husband will sometimes think that a certain mark was self-inflicted. I don't get mad at him though-- he is just concerned... and with all that he has seen that is self-inflicted, I can't blame him for thinking that. I am very accident prone and can barely walk across a room without acquiring a bruise. I scratch myself and smack myself on things and I don't even remember... So I totally know what you mean. It would just be nice to not have to explain yourself.... I understand.

I've had a similar experience, and I understand your frustration- it sucks to be accused of something you didn't do and have been working so hard to fight! The only advice I can offer you is to give it time and stay strong; someday they will believe you, right now they are just scared. Don't let this get you down-you've come so far, and the only way to earn their trust is to continue to keep yourself safe and prove to them that you have moved on and found better ways of coping. Good luck, and keep up the good work!

Hey, Inny, I believe you! And congrats on not hurting yourself, for however long it's been. That's great!

That's good that you're not hurting yourself. I have gone through the same thing. I was working at a kennel and got scratched. Some of my scars from that are still there from June. It hurts when people think/thought, especially right after it happened, that it was on purpose.

I wish you the best of luck
