I'm doing a drawing of what I want to do to myself instead of SH-ing. Its helping in some ways but it triggers me a little so then I have to put it away and bring it out later. I think because its not representational at all, its very realistic. I still think its a better option for me than to SH but it is also making it difficult. I'm trying to calm the urges....kit.

Yeah, I've drawn on myself with markers before. Its sort of the same thing but when that gets triggering, it's harder for me to get away from it. At least with the drawing I can put it away. I've heard of riding the urges like riding a wave in surfing, and the urges will pass which I know they will eventually. It's trying to do something active when the urges are active to calm them down.

Sadly, I found drawing on myself or using elastic bands don't work
