What has helped in the past when facing strong urges?

Honestly what's helped me get to this point was having my girlfriend move in with me. She never let me give in to those urges. We broke up around a month ago. And it's getting hard to keep fighting. So far I'm staying safe by not buying the stuff I need. But I don't know how long I can keep that up for. It's starting to consume every waking thought once again. I don't want to give in, but it feels like it might be inevitable.

Hey whisperingskye It sounds like it is really tough for you right now. I know what it is like to have every thought consumed by it. Luckily after a few days of that I usually get a break but it doesn't sound like that is happening for you. You are really strong because you haven't gone out and bought the stuff you need. That's awesome. Can you make a self care kit if you don't already have one? Put in some music you like, some nice lotion, something to fidget with, keep your hands busy, post cards of places you've been or want to go, etc. Sometimes that helps me. HUGS Kit

Hey, I haven't checked in here in a while. It's been a long time, most of this year. I can't remember exactly. But I recently got a tattoo to cover some scars and celebrate my success.

Good job!
I think the biggest help has been the new medication I'm on for weight loss. It's a stimulant, and I've been much less depressed since starting it.
