hey!

i have schizophrenia and get self harm impulses. earlier i acted on one of them. i scratched stomach and chest. but it seems like its 80% not me doing it, and like 20% me. i dont want to get into the habit of self harm, even if it isnt me doing it completely.

what should i do? i will talk with my therapist the 12th. might call and see if i can get a a appointment with him tomorrow.

so: how do i keep this from becoming a habit?

thx,
josh

Dear josh,

I think you are very insightful about your situation. It is often rare to find this level of insight in people. The fact that you are insightful bodes well for you in my opinion. Not falling into habits and struggling against habits requires a great deal of patience and motivation. Those afflicted with mental illness often have to work against powerful forces that those not afflicted cannot possibly understand. The fact that you are trying, really trying is virtuous and heroic in my eyes. I hope your therapist can help you in your quest. I wish you only the best!

Sincerely yours, Yao Wen
