How much does scratching and deep picking count as self injury ... especially for bears?

My bear coat is a mess with scratches and holes all over it. I feel that I have to punish myself for existing :(

You shouldn't feel you need to punish yourself, talk with someone here, pm, one of us if you want to talk about this.
Skin picking and scratching can stem from a habit in some people, often with an origin of stress, etc.
Therapy can help unlock the reason behind such actions, and then work through this.
Just my 2 cents.

Please take care now,

Maybe it is just a habit, but if you are doing it to "punish" yourself, it may be self-harm.

Please remember you're very much appreciated and loved here..........PM any of us in this group if you need to.

It is self injury. I once read that the definition of self injury was if you did something to yourself that left marks for a specified amount of time it was classified as self injury. I had to laugh because it gave me liscense to use rubberbands on my wrists that didn't leave marks but hurt like the dickens. lol...ok not so funny unless you have a dark humor at the rediculousness of human exsistance. Sigh. Please excuse me, am a little imbalanced today. Probably shouldn't be posting.

Anyway...

Why is is you feel you need to punish yourself? Did something happen that tiggered this feeling? Sometimes if you can locate your trigger and do something about it you will find some relief for your poor fuzzy coat.

Thanks everyone! I have located the trigger, but I am not sure what I can do about it. Not much probably, as it is a person but I can try to avoid them ... the dynamics also remind me in some ways of some of the trauma in my childhood :(

My bear coat is doing a bit better today ...

Love,
Fuzzy
