you will come to a point when you have caused so much destruction in your life because of your mental issues... that you will see how self injury is not an option anymore.
if you are looking for a way to stop, humility is the answer.

It's not the answer for me, though humility What has kept me from doing it this time (almost 3 months now!) is having some compassion on myself- choosing to protect myself when others hurt me, rather than adding hurt on top of what they did to me. humility

that sounds like very aware caring of yourself....
unfortunately, i am not yet unable to have sympathy for myself .....
so humiliation and being forced by recent events to become humble is the only thing that has stopped my SI.
