When I turned 50, I had plenty of energy. I would get home from work and be able to do anything I wanted in the evening. Now, as soon as I walk in the door, I want to start getting ready for bed.
Can anyone relate?
Thanks for this!

Oh heck yes, but I can't blame it on age. I have chronic fatigue so am tired most of the time.

Even at 55 I was stronger and more active than I am at 60. It's been a rough few years. Not sure if I will ever feel good again.

I agree, up to 55 I seemed to have more energy. Before that I always felt like I was much younger than my age but not anymore. Since I turned 60 that seems to have declined. I blamed it all on the depression, but now that the depression has lifted I still find myself tired all the time, only I'm not sleeping as much as when depressed. I have quit work so I can't blame it on that anymore either.

My husband who will be 64 next week has lost a lot of his stamina as well.

Getting old sucks.

Seems like the energy/fatigue thing could be broken down into 5-year periods.... 50 to 55, 55 to 60, 60 to 65, and so one. During each of these periods, it seems like there are noticeable decreases of energy and increases of fatigue. As the years go by, the more noticeable it is.

The way I played with my grandchildren 10 years ago... even 5 years ago... would be impossible to do now.

Lizardlady brings up a good point that there may be some other factor than just getting older. Both my wife and one of her brothers were in their middle 50s when they were diagnosed with a thyroid problem (either underactive or overactive, forget which). Their main symptom was "being tired all the time".

My wife's father was in his early 60s when he was diagnosed with adult diabetes. His main symptom was "being tired all the time".

They had other symptoms, too, but the big one was constant fatigue. They were like anyone else and thought that they were just "getting older".

For me it was the spinal problems that did me in, until then like other I felt younger than my years. Then after the spinal fusion at 54 it seems like I've packed it in, just waiting for the train so to speak.

Other than the bipolar disorder, a little arthritis and a blood clot I can't say that I have a real reason for feeling worse than at 55 but I do. I blame drugs for part of it. I think that makes it seem like I have control when I really don't. After all, the meds or a choice, right?

I'm so scared. I think it sucks the energy right out of me. Financially I don't know how we will make it.

I am very fatigued this morning. I do not feel rested at all. I guess this is more mental than physical.

Really dragging this morning. Didn't even get my shower, just washed up quick at the sink. It's so dark. I hope it's lighter out by the time I have to go.

I know my mood has a lot to do with my energy level. I'm active for most of the day and have a daily work out routine, this does wonders for the body and the mind.
As long as I don't sit and dwell on the negative, I do ok.

My husband and I drove about 100 miles to look at a camper shell for our truck and do a little shopping in the city, now I'm exhausted. We didn't even do that much. I'm dreading tomorrow when I have to go to the therapist office because I'm afraid I'll be too tired. I really hate getting old.
