I read, sew and watch tv. Would love to travel but money dictates otherwise. I like to walk but have plantar faciitis and can't walk far without pain. I think I'm just coming out of my depressed state, so that's good.

Hi Tammy. I am a new member as well; and I lived in Maine three years and know the difference between 'wicked' and 'brutal' cold. I enjoyed getting out with the proper clothing and gear, and keeping busy at something I consider important. I enjoy good TV and movies (at home), reading, and especially: journaling. I find keeping a very private journal and a bit of physical exercise of some sort helps a lot.

Welcome, Tammy! I'm lucky that I live in a relatively warm climate, although we're having a particularly cold winter), but I get out for a four mile walk every day with my beloved it mutt, Rozzie. She makes sure that I don't slack off. I also love to write and have joined several writing groups in my area. That keeps me busy talking to other writers and critiquing each others work.

Oh wow....sometimes my work is my fun....turning 63 next week & still am an on the go person. I LOVE working with horses. It might not sound like fun but I dedicated my life last Aug - Nov caring for 3 rescued stallions..it was physical work but the reward was beyond anything I have ever experienced.
I have friends who have horses & need someone to ride so until I get my mare here, I ride theirs. We got together & went zip lining last summer. I have a group of friends who are still physically active & it's fun to keep up with the physical fun things. I have a 10 acre farm I own by myself.....I honestly LOVE living alone. When it snows I love hiking in my woods with my dogs. Wish I had my x-country skiis & snow shoes here...left them when I left my bad marriage 8 years ago. Love learning to shoot though I probably will never hunt unless it becomes a survival thing...more for my own protection....it's fun though. Have friends who aren't physical & we enjoy playing cards, eating out & just visiting. At home I just picked up painting a few years ago & enjoy beading jewelry ot other things I design. Also enjoy visiting with a friend at the extended care facility & spending time there with others in there. Life is full & I have never enjoyed life more than I have since leaving the bad marriage & finding the me I lost so many years ago. I always enjoyed my computer engineering career & playing racquetball with the guys I worked with & winter vacations skiing & all the winter sports in JacksonHole Wyo.....& loved horses all my life. Always active fun inspite of some major injuries that come with the activity....luckily none of that has stopped me even though it has slowed me down some even at my age. Oh does it count as fun repairing my truck? I took on the challenge of replacing my own EGR valve...work but totally thrilling when I got the job done.....I guess I sort of look at everything in life with the view of fun...even housework I hate doing...but get into it & enjoy basically whatever I'm doing at the time __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. I moved to a senior community so I'd have other people in my situation and things to do. I'm only 65 and most of my friends now are in their mid-80's and 90's but some are active walkers and there's card games (poker :-) and a gym and getting to and from locations requires much more walking than my own townhouse did, etc. Have you looked at your county's senior center or the community college, see what classes and get togethers there might be or even just the library? I love the local libraries as they have the free local magazines that say what's going on, where and even offer different classes and get-togethers themselves. Right after my husband died and I was alone, stuck in my townhouse I took a knitting class at the library one night a week.

Sorry to hear about your break up. I enjoy walking as well; it has health benefits and is therapeutic to the soul so keep it up. Try finding a walking group that you can join that would help you to continue to do what you love while meeting others.

I forgot to add.....I love the ballroom dancing classes I take several nights a week. I am in an advanced ballroom dance class monday's & go to the beginning & intermediate classes on Thursday evenings. We have the most awesome group.....& partners aren't a requirement since we are a very close group & know & love to dance with each other.....almost like a dance family. It's great exercise & lots of fun. Once a month they have a soriee & then the USAA dance group has a dance offered in the city that many also go together to enjoy.
I have so many different groups of people that I'm involved with..each group are mostly different people. I so enjoy living in the small town of about 8000 people after growing up in Los Angeles where there were millions to get lost in. My friends give me a hard time about being so busy & a social butterfly......I just enjoy so many things in life & I so enjoy life compared to where I was only a few years ago, it's wonderful. __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. Fun? --- Guess that has become a foreign to my experience these recent years.
Seem to have lost the capacity to enjoy anything. __________________ Traveling west back toward Eden (interestingly the wise men in the Gospel account of Jesus' birth came from the East), has been full of confrontation with the trials and tribulations of living outside the Garden. She is an artist without doubt disappointed that paradise was not as close in 1969 as she and so many others hoped it was. Her work is now filled with the reality of humanity's failure to achieve the prophetic dream of her song, but never without the hope that that day will yet come. |

Sorry to hear of the breakup and having to adjust to living alone ... Vigorous activities are no longer on my menu either due to arthritis, however, I still enjoy taking nature walks, watching stormy weather, listening to good music, hanging out here at PC, and playing free games online - poker, monopoly and scrabble especially! Oh, and speaking of nature walks, hiking and climbing ... We are connected by The Appalachian Trail ... You there in Maine & Me here in Georgia! Again, welcome! ... I hope you find PC helpful and supportive too! Sincerely, Pfrog! |
