I rarely was taken out to eat as a child... so no Shirley Temples for me. I think I had an Etch-a-Sketch. But the other thing I recall was a lighted box that had a pegboard front where you could plug in different colored pegs to make a picture. I can't recall what those were called.

Was it a "lite-bright" or something like that?

Oh one of my cousins had a lite- bright. I always wanted a lava lamp. I thought those lights that dripped oil were pretty cool too.

Yes, that's what it was. I couldn't recall the name. Thanx!
Did anyone have a pogo stick? I had one except that mine wasn't actually a stick. It had handle bars. I never did get very good at using it. One or two jumps & that was all she wrote for me! |

I wanted a pogo stick but never got one...I was best with a hula hoop or jump rope
I tried someone else's pogo stick too and didn't get far either...hop hop tip over __________________ "...don't say Home / the bones of that word mend slowly...' marie harris |

Don’t recall having a pogo stick but I did get wooden toy skies for Christmas one year and since we had no hills I skied off the roof of the garage! Mum took my skis away.

Where did they think you were going to use the skiis, Nammu?
I never saw a pogo stick. But it did look hard. My cousin got stilts one year for Christmas. They were wild. Do any of you remember tap dancing lessons and baton twirling? My cousins did that stuff, but I wasn't interested. Do cheerleaders even use batons any more? |

I think there’s at least one baton twirler in Macy’s parade. But to be honest that might just be a memory. One of my cousins had a baton, her mom wanted her to learn. I don’t think she ever did.

Haha, gosh...I can still twirl a baton. I, too, wonder if anyone uses them anymore.
My best friend's older sister had a pogo stick. I remember watching her. It kind of scared me, though; I was afraid she'd slam into us and knock us down (we were about 4 at the time). That same sister informed us, just before we started kindergarten, that if you have to use the bathroom in school you have to raise your hand. We were pretty shaken up by that news! __________________ |

Adults buying themselves retro toys for Christmas that they missed out on as children
I don't care for any of those gifts. Any toy you wish you had? |

A lava lamp would be nice, but where would I put it! It would clash with everything. I did used to have one and a water bed, oh that would be fantastic to have, I loved my water bed.

I don’t think so, not like the big plastic bags you’d fill with water but I think they make toppers. Oh I so loved my water bed, warm and cost on winter days. But you had to have a good heater!

I do wish for some things from the past--like good, decent TV shows and no robo calls and calls always answered by people and not some machine system that makes you punch numbers or say things.

Yeah, it’s a pain in the neck. My pharmacy has one of those numbers that’s answered by computers that give you a list of numbers to punch or words to say, it takes a long time to get though to a human. I find it easier to just jump in the car and go talk in person rather than call.

Is your pharmacy CVS? That's how they handle calls.

Nope, Walgreens. Yep. Too big for their britches! But I do get email notifications and I can put in refills on line and get auto refills so they do have that going for them. Plus they adjusted my meds until they all have the same refil date. I only go in once every three months for all my meds except the sleep med. plus they do know me by sight. So if I’m in line my meds are ready when I get to the counter. Really the phone is my only complaint

Sounds good. I like CVS, too, except for the phone thing.

I am so, so lucky...in my town we actually have an independent, old-fashioned pharmacy that has been in the family for 100+ years. They know people by name, it's easy to speak with a real person. Really sad that the indie pharmacies have all but disappeared.
