Great pic! I remember riding in my uncle's Chevy BelAir. Cool car!
I'd love to go to an old car museum or showing again one of these days. |

i've been watching a tv series, made in '60-'62, called Danger Man, with Patrick McGoowan.. i don't remember ever seeing it back when, but they didn't do so many reruns as they do now, with tv archives, n stuff... it's got good plots, but poor writing and directing... i almost think Patrick was new to TV, he's so stiff... he plays a NATO secret agent, kind of. anyway, if you just want to be reminded of fashions, cars and all things 50'ish... check it out. (i don't have a link, i'm watching it on the web), 39 half hour episodes per season, with a 3 yr break, 4 seasons in all,, a lot of time spent in black & white~! That reminds me so much of the first car I remember, a black and white '55 Delray.

Cars came with bench seats and larger steering wheels and no safety belts....there was no such thing as a child safety seat.

The woody was the station wagon with wood sides!
I still miss big phone books. Cool car, Gus! My uncle had one of those chevys. Anyone remember standing on the differential hump while riding in the car? |

I remember standing on the hump tho mostly I curled up on one side or the other with my toys and books, we took lots of road trips. Anybody else ever got to travel on the upper bed in a camper? That was a great way to see the USA.

i remember when 3 or 4 of us younger kids would ride in the back of the pick-up, and jump up and down on the bumpy roads, cause you never knew where the floor would be.... talk about 'cheap thrills' LOL (yes, ONE time a cousin fell out of the pick-up, but i think he was pushed~)

Our old car had an 8 track tape player in it. Remember switching between tracks?
I rode in the back of a truck a few times. I wasn’t aware of hair knotting up in the wind the first time My mom had a Chevy Chevette (it’s gonna make you happy-that was the commercial jingle). Anyway, I used to put the seats down in the back and stretch out on my back and look at the sky (the hatchback was slanted so you could see straight up. |

Yer mum making clothes on the sewing machine. Of being forced to take home ec, cooking and sewing classes if you were a girl. Oh right typing was required for girls too, but lots of boys took that class.

I am sure I will think of more but this is off the top of my head:
I remember selling Girl Scout cookies for 50 cents a box door to door. Fond memories of Christmas's, circling and writing down everything I wanted from the sears catalog. Riding in the back seat of the station wagon that faced backwards. My first time buying nylons, and garter belt. Going to the local drug store and having a shake at the long counter with stools. A little diner that had a penny candy counter and having a nickel and getting a big sackful of candy. My fathers first grocery store. |

Ah, Hairball, thanks for reminding me of those things. Other than the garter belt, I'd love to do some of that again. Yep, 50 cent Girl Scout cookies. And I adored the Sears Christmas catalog. What fun!
