I had a virtual follow-up appointment with my pdoc this afternoon. These appointments don't amount to much. Eight or ten minutes (via ZOOM at the moment) & it's done. He asks me how I'm doing. But I don't know what to say. It would take a lot longer than 8 or 10 minutes to cover it.

I think... sometimes... no... a lot of the time, I should consider giving therapy another try. (I've tried seeing a few therapists in the past. But it never amounted to anything.) But then I think... what's the point? I'm 72 years old. Spend a bunch of money so I can (hopefully) die happy? It would be nice to have someone to talk to. (Currently I have no one.) But I'm not going to be making any significant changes in my life at this late stage. So... what's the point?

You actually offer two answers to "what's the point?" 1) To die happy and 2) To have someone to talk to. I suggest you give it a try. If it's not for you now, then you'll know.

If you don't expect too much or get hooked, as I did, then what's the harm?

Wouldn't have to cost a lot to check it out.

Having someone you can talk to -- not just any warm body, but someone you can trust and really communicate with -- is a really wonderful thing in itself. There's something about talking to someone who really listens, that bounces back to you and causes you to experience and process what's happening in your life in a very different way from just writing or talking to yourself. At any age.

You're not dead yet, Skeezyx!

Trick is finding the right person.

Hugs ....

Thanks for your replies. Periodically I seem to get the urge to post my own thread instead of just always replying to others. Feel free to ignore any threads I post in the future. They're all just blather...
