I have a whole different concern, finding NATURAL health care in the first place because normal medical treatment causes me nothing but horrible side effects & normal elderly care is nothing but msin stream medicine. Natural care is not covered by medicare & any in home or nursing home care only has main stream medical people & treatments working there. I have a whole different set of concerns from most people so as usual, I walk my own path in life

When I was a child, I drank black tea without sweetener. But then at about 40 I started needing a sweetener. I still can drink green tea, black tea with milk, unsweetened (milk has natural sugar in it). Weird. So weird.

If I drank that much I would be in the bathroom all day & get nothing done. I do drink a lot when working outside & massivly sweating & it just refills what I sweat out

Causation vs correlation ? I’m not sure about that one.

Hello everyone! Need your experience and advice. I have consulted a specialist for weight loss through intermittent fasting. It has been tough for me, honestly. I was prescribed HGH therapy at a clinic because of a deficiency, and that makes it even harder to stick to fasting. My energy levels can get pretty low, especially during the longer fasts, so finding that balance between managing my health and sticking to the fasting schedule can be really frustrating at times. Maybe some lifehacks or strategies? Thank you in advance!

I had to look up HGH (Human Growth Hormone) therapy Human growth hormone (HGH): Does it slow aging? - Mayo Clinic)
I hope you've discussed the fasting plan with the prescriber of the HGH therapy. Are you struggling just with low energy? Certain breathing techniques can be stimulating, as well as splashing ice cold water on your face and arms. Does the therapy increase your appetite? Perhaps drinking water or seltzer with lemon might help. The "Hay" in the Hay diet (Dr. William Howard Hay) advocated fasting in "Health Via Food", but he'd put his patients on weeks-long fasts, and he'd remark that energy resumed at about day 3 of the fast. He also had different degrees of fasts. For example, he claimed that a diet of fresh fruit or vegetable juice was a fast. __________________ Major Depressive Disorder; Sleep Apnea; possibly on the spectrum Nuvigil 50mg; Effexor 37.5mg Wellbutrin 100mg; meds for blood pressure & cholesterol |

The goal is to limit calorie intake. There are three ways to do that. One is to directly limit it. Eat less. Smaller portions. Another is to avoid certain foods (carbs, fats, whatever) which will indirectly limit calorie intake The third way is to limit the times when you eat, also known as intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating (TRE) with certain time windows when you are allowed to eat. Most likely, unless you consume a whole lot when you are allowed to eat, this practice will indirectly lead to reducing calorie intake. Which of these three approaches is best for you is a matter of personal preference to be determined by trial and error. There is no magic in intermittent fasting beyond this indirect effect of limiting calorie intake. It has many devotees but in reality it is not a magic trick. So I agree with Travelinglady: this approach does not seem to work for you and your best bet now is to try different approaches. May I also ask if you know your baseline? Before you try any interventions, it is a good idea to first learn where you are without any interventions. Armed with a set of measuring cups and spoons and a kitchen scale with a tare function, you can figure it out by eating whatever you are accustomed to eating over the course of several weeks and recording your intake in an app – they abound. It can be an eye opening exercise and it is likely to better inform you before you embark on any kind of intervention. __________________ Bipolar I w/psychotic features Last inpatient stay in 2018 Geodon 40 mg Seroquel 75 mg Gabapentin 1200 mg+Vitamin B-complex (against extrapyramidal side effects) Long term side effects from medications, some of them discontinued: - hypothyroidism - obesity BMI ~ 38 |

I've now embraced "older" as my adjective. I have some significant health issues, but I'm not going to whine and take to my bed. I got out yesterday with some friends who are also older (some more than others ) and had a great time. I also did a lot of physical labor and enjoyed it--although I'm worn out today. I believe each day is a blessing, a gift, and I'm determined to enjoy each one that way. |
