I'll bet that most people are shopping online this year. I am.

Shopping? What's that?

Now I need to go through my purchases and get ready to mail some of them. Are you of you sending Christmas cards and/or letters this year? I start working on my Christmas letter the day after Thanksgiving.

I'm happy for you that you have money to buy and mail presents and Christmas cards. I barely have enough money for Thanksgiving food and Christmas food. I'm not thinking of buying a tree or presents for Christmas. Besides, there are some people who may not want to celebrate Christmas for one reason or another. I'll celebrate Christmas from a spiritual standpoint.

I bought the grandkids gifts. I need to get wrapping paper and tape. I get that at the dollar store. Wrapping paper is a great buy at the dollar store. Brought my daughter a lovely collection of teas.. I’m blank on what to get my son in law. Was thinking of bbq sauces or something to do with bbqing. I won’t have to mail them though. My daughter is going to drive over and pick them up from the garage and leave our gifts there. Mum has told everyone she wants no gifts this year. Homemade cookies and food is all she will accept.

Hubby and I are blessed to have enough money for presents and cards. I'm mailing one son's gifts because he's being wise choosing to stay at his place for Christmas. The other one I mail is for a friend who moved away.
I don't send many Christmas cards, and I buy them on sale, usually after Christmas. I try to get the best deals I can on eBay deals--and I extend buying throughout the year. As Nammu said, the Dollar Store has some nice items for gifts and wrapping paper. I love giving presents to people more than getting them. |

Oh me too I used to love to buy gifts for people. I shopped all year long keeping people likes in mind. When I found perfect fits on sale I got them. I never spent a lot I’ve been on SSDI a long time. I did not expect gifts in return but I found that a lot of people resented my gifts because to them itmeant they had to reciprocate and they hated that. So I stopped buying gifts except for family.
I think the isolation is getting to mum. It’s just us two tomorrow. She’s been calling her brothers and family to talk. She prefers to visit in person because she’s losing her hearing and face to face is easier but the last couple of days she’s calling everybody. Thinking of family but not being able to get together with them is hard for her. I’m easy with that though. I’m a true invert and being alone refresh’s me. When I was a kid the families on both sides took turn hosting thanksgiving and Christmas. The gathering were huge and very crowded. So we had huge gatherings in our house. Also fourth of July and family picnics in the summer months. I don’t know when that stopped I think it was when we kids started having kids it just got too big. Both my sisters stopped with two kids and I had only one. So there was Fewer cousins and a greater age gap. And people lived farther away. So this year for mum it’s hard. Last year my dads side of the family hosed a cousins picnic the first in a long long time. I hardly recognized my cousins and never knew their kids who had had kids. __________________ Nammu …Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. I’m deaf so I have the special phone but mum doesn’t like it. She has a very loud volume control on hers. We both have cell phone too to text with. And lucky for me my state has text 911. Thanks for asking.

I'm also deaf, and I know sign language. I use a videophone at home and on my cell phone. I also use email and text. Have a great day!

I know sign too but my family doesn’t. Nor do the people I need to call sometimes. So the caption phone is the best choice for me.
I can’t decide if I’m going to send card this year or not. With covid it would be nice to brighten up people’s day. __________________ Nammu …Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. I always like to get cards, especially if there's a personal note in them.. I'm sending a few letters by e-mail, but I prefer cards. With some people, Christmas is the only time we keep in touch.

Yeah, I’m terrible about birthdays 🎂 I really should do cards this year. Mum has a package for my sister so I could get a couple rolls of forever stamps before they go up in price again.

Sending cards would be a nice gesture. Many people feel isolated during this crisis. |
