No people do not get to do their own research and make their own decisions with regard to Covid. They can choose not to get the vaccine but the facts about Covid are clear, correct, concise and supported throughout the greater medical community. What changes weekly about control, contagion and long term effects ? What sources are you reading ? __________________ "I carried a watermelon?" President of the no F's given society. |

Yes people should make their own decisions but we need to be mindful what kind of misleading information we post publicly. Many people might be gullible and this being a mental health forum some people might be quite vulnerable already, these are tough times. Someone might read that covid survival rate is 99.8%, assume that it’s true and stop using precautions. Sure people should be responsible for using logic and don’t just believe everything but I don’t think it means we are free to post anything and everything. We should be mindful. We are free to post our personal preferences of course. Such as “I want to get vaccinate”, “or I am not comfortable with vaccination”. It’s quite different than statement “covid has 99.8% survival rate”. This goes beyond personal preference and it’s misleading. |

I have not seen weekly changes in control, contagion and long term effects. It has been quite consistently the same. There might be more long term effects discovered eventually, sadly it is a reality of all illnesses, it takes time to find out every possible long term effect. But that wouldn’t be a weekly change. What changes weekly?

There were some new guidelines put out just today, go look them up if you are interested. The 99.8 survival rate has been around for a long time, it may have been adjusted since I last heard about it. But that doesn't mean it was false information then or now. As said before things with Covid stats do change regularly. COVID survival rate holding at 99.8% for adults 18-64 - The Sentinel So I would appreciate if you and Sarahsweets would get off your high horse and contribute something positive, or not respond at all to this thread. Bullying people is not cool. __________________ "Caught in the Quiet" |

How about we get away from this statistic thing, since people are getting offended? A question we could ask is what percentage of people who are old and get COVID die from it? We know most younger people don't. Yes, we all need to make our own decisions.
I think my parents (who have been long dead) would get the shots. And as I say, I've had the first one and plan on getting the second. I am old and fat, which make my chances of dying from COVID higher. My doctor sure doesn't want me to take any chances about getting it--and her expertise is in treating older patients. And Dr. Fauci took it--and the current and former PREZ and FLOTUS. My son, who is in his late twenties, had COVID and he said he wouldn't wish it on anyone--although he didn't die or have to be hospitalized. And there can be long term effects from getting COVID even if people don't die. That helps me to want to get the vaccine, too. No, nobody needs to argue that my reasons are unreasonable. |

I apologize if it seemed like I was a bully. I am passionate about things like this. Getting or not getting the vaccine aside I really do want to know what statistics you are referring to. I just looked up information a few minutes ago and can’t see what you are talking about. The links I shared reference the stats you mention and the fact checks on them are accurate. I do not think discussing statistics is bullying because they are facts that are easy ell to find. Did you read any of what I shared ? It addresses your statistics. I didn’t tell you to get off your high horse or call you dumb or stupid. I just don’t think misinformation gets a pass just because somebody believes it. __________________ "I carried a watermelon?" We have to be very mindful of misinformation. I think particularly because it’s a senior lounge. So I just asked to see the source from CDC. I haven’t seen such data. I don’t believe it’s bullying to ask for sources. Statistics isn’t an opinion so we can’t just express it without a reputable source. It’s not a bullying to ask for sources Last edited by divine1966; Mar 09, 2021 at 05:54 AM.. |

I had a fever for a day after vaccine and I was miserable! And it was a low grade fever. I have a lot of people who had covid at work as we are in person, not online and how about 2 weeks of fever? 3 weeks? How about high fever? Ugh one day seems nothing in comparison. I am so glad your son is ok. Oh I know it’s worrisome about the long term effects. We can’t possibly know them all yet. Some people have weird effects already, not even talking about serious like lung damage. The time will tell. Last edited by divine1966; Mar 09, 2021 at 06:14 AM.. |

Firstly, I want to say that we're all entitled to choose, based on sound facts and judgement.
We are all different and our reactions to vaccine are for a number of scientific reasons. I was reluctant at first because I wanted to find out more info. Didn't want something "animal based" pumped into me. Had first one on 11 March. Only reaction was feeling exhausted but then I didn't rest the day after. Almost a month later, still get nagging ache in the muscle. Few days ago, got insect bite near elbow which was tennis ball size, very hot but I was cold. Medical advice discounted reaction due to vaccine. 85 year old mother has now had both hers. First one okay; second she had a reaction. Made her legs very hot and red (has a problem there which I think is med related). Also made her very tired. She had a different one to me. After initial reluctance, glad I went ahead as the alternative didn't bear consideration! |
