I am 69, so I get full benefits. And I was on disability and was switched to Medicare when I turned 62.

I was approved for SSDI at age 60 ...

The SSDI Benefits will convert to regular Social Security Retirement when I turn 67.

I have the Original Medicare Parts A & B ...

I can apply for the Medicare Supplement Plan G in December.

There's a 6 month window of your 65th birthday to do that, and ...

They can't ask about, deny coverage nor charge extra for preexisting conditions during that time. 😅

Of course, there's an extra monthly premium for that coverage, but ...

It covers what Parts A & B do not once you've paid the deductible.

Basically all your healthcare needs end up covered at 100%!

Kinda hard to pass that up ...

If so, I'd go ahead and take it ...

Keep in mind that I'm not a professional, just expressing my humble opinion.

Keep in mind you can't apply for medicare coverage until you're 65 though.

No and any so-called increase is measly. They send me a physical letter each year showing what the amounts would be, as estimates. 65, 65, 65. Maybe I don’t belong in this thread. Everyone is older than me or is getting something. If I didn’t get life insurance benefits I’d be in a tent. My only consolation if you call it that is that I heard this is common. Only a small percentage of seniors can retire comfortably or have the luxury to wait.

The GOP might take it away.

It is a struggle @nonightowl ...

And, you do belong here, so please don't feel like you don't ...
________

My benefit is just under 23K a year ...

Not much wiggle room left after I cover the rent and basic necessities.

I also had some preexisting debt before becoming disabled, and I'm trying to get that paid off as well.

Back when I was working (bus operator), I made twice what I bring home now, and ...

I could always pick up a charter or two to add a little extra income to that if I wanted too.

I'm unable to do any kind of work now ...

My world has become smaller and smaller as the reality of my situation has settled in!

It's been quite an adjustment to say the least!

Thank you, I wish others felt that way. The stupid senior center even has more activities for people older than me like Medicare seminars. I’m not old enough. This forum is supposed to be for 55 and up yet it’s so dead like many forums.

Sorry Trav as I know the threads are started by you. But I haven’t started threads since 2019 and have gotten discouraged from doing so. The site has lost so much activity and not enough people respond or click thanks or hugs for me. Too much like real life for me. I used to spend hours on here several days a week. No more.

It’s not as supportive as it was and I have to be in the right mood to come on here.

My social security didnt post at midnight wednesday this month like its supposed to. And not because of the june 19th holiday, where its supposed to post a day earlier. Nope, just a few hours late, no explanation. It was definitely unnerving. I was gonna order from amazon, and i thought, let me just check it posted. And it had NOT. I did not need that in the middle of the night.
