Well... nowadays people are guilty until proven innocent in the court of public opinion. So we'll just have to wait and see which way the winds blow. But this is part of the reason the Skeezyks does his best to keep to himself. You can't trust anyone anymore (if ever you could.)

There are still a few people you can depend on, and trust---but it can take a very long time to be certain of people's intentions, and what is the soundness of their true moral compasses.
Elder abuse is very real, and a horrifying crime, to my thinking. There are days I am actually grateful I did not have children, because I've seen firsthand what people are capable of. And it's always the ones who claim to "love you" the most, who attempt such things. I have not heard any more about this particular case, or any follow up to this story. |

Elder Abuse frightens me ...
The more disabled my body becomes the more vulnerable & defenseless I feel. The thought of having to go into some kind of personal care home concerns me deeply. I grew up in & lived in abuse the first 33.5 years of my life ... The thought of being stuck in an abusive situation during my waning years really me out! |

I'm having the same kinds of fears, Pflower. I need to cultivate some real life friends, so there's somebody to monitor me as I proceed through my, "golden years".

That's a terribly sad situation. Elder abuse is not something I personally fear. Neither of my children would abuse me, nor would my DIL. In fact, if anything they would step in to stop my husband and his family from mistreating me - which they would.
