Hello,
I turned 60 this past June and trying to figure out where I fit in. I suppose loneliness and alone in thought brings me here. I try other support groups (on Zoom), started that during the pandemic and realized I have outgrown them, just with more life experience I guess and need groups that cater to older adults. For example I tried to participate in a Codependency group that caters to the LGBTQ crowd, had not been to the group in a year and a half and all new faces and people half my age and just couldn't relate based on having more life experience.
The support groups I joined during the pandemic were rather stimulating - I suppose as something new. Groups that dealt with codependency and gender dysphoria, Adult Children of Dysfunctional families and sex addiction and I know a lot of people come and go. A lot of things acting up in my time of lonely.

About three years ago one of my closest friends of the past 30 years passed away at age 81. On April 15 it will be two years since I lost my best friend (age 74). A former coworker and a digital penpal for 23 years. Then, one year ago I lost my sister, who we had grown very close to over the past several years. She was 61 and passed away from an "accidental drug overdose."
I take care of my mom part of the time here in Oregon. I have been married 20+ years but live 1,500 miles apart and is a complicated situation in itself. (you'll find me on the relationship/ communication (if there is such a thing) section. Been through a lot. If you're a senior surely you have been through even more. Be nice to hear others stories and why they are here. Thank you for reading!

First came to this website when it was PsychCentral back in 2013 - ten years ago, it was pretty active then, was getting support and recognize a name or two still here.

hi Arich,

I found your post while looking at new threads.

I'm in mid-life, but wanted to reach out and welcome you back to the forum; even though I'm fairly new here, it has helped me to be in contact with others.

I hope you find good connections here.

DocJohn is giving a Q&A in the Auditorium in chat tomorrow the 21st at 9 pm NYC time, if you're interested in joining in.

Hi, arich62, it's really good to meet you

Gosh, we do have some things in common. I turned 60 just before the new year. I've been married for around 40 years, but my husband and I haven't lived together in many years. We live exactly one mile apart. The main reason we don't share a home is because he is a hoarder and there is literally no room for me to live in his house. We have 2 children, a daughter and a son. Thankfully, they are both living good, productive lives.

I share my home with 5 precious cats, and am on the forum to give and receive support. I'm diagnosed with bipolar disorder and with PTSD.

My closest friend of fifty-three years passed away when we were 58, of heart failure. She was a sister to me and I grieve for her.

I am the youngest of three sisters; my middle sister died at age 69 of cancer, but she was an addict for most of her adult years (including at the time she died). I miss her terribly.

I was my mom's caregiver for many, many years. She's been gone for quite a long time, though.

And I also live on the west coast! PST.

So, that's a short bit on my life.
