Self abuse. Brat role. Punishment. Pleasure in pleasing. Struggle with acceptance for anything other than my abilities to please. I accepted this long ago inside myself, realizing recently the severity in negative attention I am crave. I can not understand the mode for change. Keeps me attached to an abusive man.

I don't know if I really comprehend what you were getting at with this post. So perhaps my reply will be off-base. But here are links to 5 articles, from Psych Central's archives, on the subject of why we keep returning to the same types of relationships as well as on the concept of repetition compulsion. Perhaps they may be of some interest:

Why Do We Repeat the Same Dysfunctional Relationship Patterns Over and Over?

How to Stop Going Back to an Abusive Relationship

Why So Many of Us Get Stuck in Toxic Relationships

Repetition Compulsion: Why Do We Repeat the Past?

hey @ShesPeculiar: Do you mean you feel this way in a fetish sense? Or do you feel controlled by it and the relationship you are in? You dont need to be in an abusive relationship if you are into kink, or at least the S&M parts of things. There are plenty of people that do these things that do not abuse their partners.
