The following case presents a typical ethical dilemma in a rural community where public and personal lives are closely interwoven and health care clinics, doctors, and hospitals are few and far between.
Mrs. Sheila Murphy lives in a small town in the Foothill of Rocky mountain West. Her roots in this town are deep. Shiela's grandparents were ranchers and her aunts, uncles an cousins still live in the area. Ever since she had her husband announced her pregnancy there has ben much enthusiasm and support. Shiela considers herself lucky because she had her family known and trust Dr. Hughes a family physician who serves the small community. there is however a problem. During Shiela's last visit, Dr. Hughes discovered an open lesion and diagnosed it as a genital herpes lesion. Dr. Hughes explained that if Shiela has open lesion at the time of delivery, a C-section will have to be performed to prevent the child from becoming infected. Shiela is very upset. She says her husband knows about the problem and they do not want the information enter into her medical record. Sheila doesn't want Dr. Hughs to talk to anybody about her problem. She scheduled an appointment blieving she could rely on the "confidentiality" that has come always surrounded their relationship. Dr. Hughes understands Shiela's concern; the receptionist in Dr. Hughes office is Shiela's sister in law. Since the receptionist also types the patient's medical records, she will see any information if Dr Hughes plces in Shiela's chart. Sheila knows many of the nurse and aides who work in the hospital several of them are also members of the Church.

oh no that sounds horrible. I don't think its legal to omit test results and diagnoses from the record. I do however know that some people use aliases in there records maybe you can ask if that is possible.

Yes its legal to omit test results, diagnosis or even that you committed a crime from public and private records. lawyers do it all the time. they defend mentally ill people and omit deflaming information about their clients. lawyers defend criminals that committed crimes and even if the person says to their lawyer yup I did it. that lawyer has to go forwards and defend that rapist, murder as if they never confessed or remove theirself as their lawyer. Lots of times too when a lawyer finds out their client has a problem that would cause problems with winning the case the lawyer puts a gag order on the doctors preventing them from disclosing certain information. Doctors too omit information all the time. when I moved here for college I had to have a local doctor and therapist in case I had any problems here. my doctor only sent partial records that was just about the problem I was having at the time I needed a local doctor and therapist. he didnt send my whole 15 year record he has on me. My mom had a child out of wedlock and the child placed for adoption. my moms and that babys records dont list my mom as the babys mother and my moms file doesnt have anything about giving birth to that baby at all. There are lots of reasons why doctors and lawyers omit stuff from files. even mental places omit things from the files. Here at the crisis center where I do my part of my internship we dont keep detailed files on all the client cause the files could get pulled into court if the client is prosecuting. My therapist doesnt keep detailed files on me either. and sometimes I have to "refresh" my therapists memory on something I told her cause she didnt put it in the files and didnt have it to look back on right before seeing me.
Thanks for this!

So here we found out that omitting records from our doctor is really a possible one. What are some bad things that can make you down, if you don't put your health datas into records?
