Ive got bi polar and BPD. I have always been a sexual person. I recently (3 months ago) stopping taking my meds and all my hormones kicked back in. Its been great to have my sex drive back. My doctor and therapist want me back on meds. Im not too happy about the idea. Isnt there any meds out there that dont take away the sex drive?

Which meds were you taking? Lithium hasn't changed my sex drive at all. It did take away the hypersexuality of hypomania though.

Risperdol is the med I was taking. Havnt been on it since June. I go see the Doc at the end of September. He want to put me on a different med. Im just not too sure about it. Ive been on lithium before, it made me extreamly drousy and unaware of my surroundings.

It has been my experience that the meds that work also affect your sex drive. If you discuss it with the doctor, there are some meds out there that are supposed to help.

Thank you!!! Ive talked to my doctor several times. He's a bit stubborn and doesnt listen very well. Maybe if I tell him to "fix the problem or Im not taking the med!" that might do the trick and he'll listen.

It's unrealistic to expect clients to live without a sex drive. Telling the doc you find risperdal unacceptable is fine! There are other antipsychotics and mood stabilizers to try.

I have not had a problem with Edronax (An AD) and Sodium Valporate nor Lamictin.
Citalopram was very bad for my libido
