I'm looking for erotica and romance of all genres, fanfiction or bestsellers, slash or non-slash, yaoi/yuri or hetero, fluff or hardcore...Basically, I want to know your favorite reads.

What I have read from fanfiction has been wonderful.

I'm currently reading Counting Stars/Falling Stars which is a SkrillMau5 (Skrillex/DeadMau5=Sonny/Joel) romance which is sooooo good. I've been reading it the past hour and a half and I'm only halfway through. This is an post-apocolyptic novel of how Joel rescues Sonny during a meteor attack and they're hitchhiking to Los Angelos and realize they both having feelings for each other, well, they've always sort have known. They have a lot of song and Skrillex/DeadMau5 references, so I wouldn't recommend it to people who don't know who those people are.

I know it's supposed to be a major tear-jerker, but I'm already crying and it's not even at the tear-jerker part. It's so sad. Sonny and Rob, the manager, gets kidnapped by the government to be tested for radiation and Joel decides to start a riot to save Sonny and Rob gets shot and killed, and Sonny stops speaking for weeks and Joel's just barely hanging on trying to keep Sonny alive, and then Sonny rips off his humanity necklace and throws it into the river, saying he did it for Rob. I only have a few more chapters to go and it's a several pages long each chapter. OMG this is one of the best fanfics I've ever read.

Holy crap what a tear-jerker....And it said to be continued, but that was in 2011 and there's no new updates. I felt like it was a good ending though.

OMG I'm still crying.

Note: This was not erotica, just a romance.

I'm currently checking out (pun intended? lol) manga sex comedies written by Yuki Yoshihara.

I fully recommend Monster Skin: A Spooky Bonsai Mystery by Melancton Hawks. It is kinky, sexy, violent, beautiful, and pretty mind blowing. Spooky is a New York kleptomaniac whose world gets ripped apart when she's raped by her stepfather. She makes a plan to take her revenge but she finds herself being pursued by secret organization that wants something she stole. Spooky finds shelter in the arms of a sex toy manufacturer and her submissive ninja bodyguard. I'd hate to give any more than that away.

My mom gave me the first Beauty book of the Beauty series by Anne Rice on the hush hush, she told me not to tell my dad, but that it is an amazing book. I plan on reading it tonight.

The book I'm reading is called "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" by Anne Rice and it is a serious page turner. 45 pages has just flown by and I haven't even gotten to the Prince's castle yet. My mom was serious when she said it'd be hot and juicy on every page! Very much hardcore BDSM. Very hot. Definitely my kind of book!

And the whole time I'm picturing my lovely Skrillex as my power-hungry, paddle-wielding Prince, who also happens to be young with long, dark hair. H-O-T! It's a fun read!

I thought Skrillex was a musician. . .

Yes, Anne Rice has a trilogy of those books, I think they're maledom though, so it's not my taste.

This is one of my favourites. It's a female dominant story.

I've read the Anne Rice books (but then I love Anne Rice) and just finishing the EL James 50 shades books), and have started The Dairy of a Submissive....seems ok so far.

Are there any fandoms you are very much not into? Or subcultures/genres/kinks?

Also just out of interest because I think it differs for different people, where does the line fall for you between 'erotica' and 'romance with sex in it'?

Not into? Anime, furry, teacher/student, school girl, pedophilia or age play, diaper, scat play, medical play/torture, etc.

I guess if it gives me a funny feeling down there or make me want to masturbate, or if the sex scene is incredibly graphic or BDSM, then it's likely erotica. Romance with sex tends to lightly touch the sex scenes or imply without going too into it, not too graphic.

Right now my partner and I are reading 'Take Me There' together. It's a collection of trans and genderqueer erotica. Very hot.

Also, some of the stuff on nifty.org is good, but some of it is very poorly written. Just have to pick through it.

I am on the 2nd Beauty book by Anne Rice and oh. my. GOD. this is one of the best series I've ever read! There's literally sex on every page. And it's so hot! I love the way the author trains the Princes. Ohhhh this is sooo good!
Thanks for this!

DrSkipper, what did you think of the 50 Shades of Grey series? I was nauseated through the first because it was so lame, IMHO, and never read anymore...

And now a movie, great.

Erotica and other steamy reads

^ ^ ^She is the only person who would ever get hot over 50 Shades. 50 Shades is NOT real erotica. It was written by someone who has no idea what real BDSM is. "Sex on every page" is far below an understatement, it's just Twilight-inspired drama. Can't even call it foreplay.

The Beauty Trilogy IS real erotica, can turn on guys as well as girls both my age and my parents' age, and there is literally sex on every PARAGRAPH. And it's a page turner. So amazing. I would strongly suggesting picking up this book if you are at all curious to BDSM and Master/Slave.

rofl Epic pic Doc.

One of my buddies actually read 50 Shades. He seemed to enjoy it, and I've thumbed through a page or two. It's...odd. Not really sure how I feel about it, but then again, it's hardly an informed opinion based off two or three pages. Usually, I get all my steamy reads off of Google.

It's a book that all my great aunts and grandparents read. That's the target audience, the 50+ crowd. It's a horribly written book, but I won't waste time bashing it.

Read The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty instead. I'm halfway through the second one.
