So, my current partner walked me through a garden variety, generic porn site. Not a niche site, no, and not porn as art, but just a garden variety porn site.

I was quite shocked.

What shocked me was the apparent lack of technological progress in the field of surgical breast enhancement.

I kind of thought that the breast implant surgeries have become so common place that the surgeons who perform them must by now have learned how to do a good job.

Nope! Wrong!

The implants look SO fake that it is not even funny. It is just beyond ridiculous.

So, my aimless question is - how can the women who wear those implants be arousing? They do look very funny, admittedly, but my question is not about funny, but about arousing. Since the porn actresses have those implants, I conclude that the implants must be arousing - it looks as if having implants were almost a job requirement for women without naturally large breasts. So there must be enough consumers of porn who find them arousing. How come? (no pun intended)

Or do people feel especially aroused when the see funny looking fake body parts?

This reminds me of a study that was done recently, where a group of teenage boys were shown pictures of women's breasts and were asked what they thought were the best looking breasts. Most of them chose the fakest looking pair of breasts.
Thanks for this!

I can only answer from my own perspective so take it for what it's worth ... not much.

Porn, in my opinion, is about fantasy. So fake is good in that case. I don't expect reality in porn. So in porn, girls with big fake boobies are awesome.

In real life though, big fake boobs look horrible. No more fantasy so when I see a woman with major implants it actually turns my stomach a little. I'm more interested in a woman's mind than her chest and big implants send up red flags.

In summation:
Fake World + Fake Boobs = Good
Real World + Fake Boobs = Gross
Thanks for this!

Well, lol speaking frankly, at my age I haven't really been able to perform a...er...more comprehensive analysis of real vs fake, so generally, as long as they aren't comically fake, I don't ask too many questions. Also, typically and speaking for myself, generally by the time you actually get to whatever site you're spending the evening with, a sort of "beer goggle" effect kicks in to the point that anything that isn't utterly absurd is suitable.

That is what my current partner who walked me through the site was telling me about girls who have been modified to look like barbies. "A different reality". "An alternative reality".

Yes? Is that what you are saying?

oh cool! A wonderful new phrase and an addition to my cross-cultural anecdote stash.

per Urban Dictionary:

"beer goggles

phenomenon in which one's consumption of alcohol makes physically unattractive persons appear beautiful; summed up by the phrase, "there are no ugly women at closing time"
When I took her to bed, she looked like Halle Berry. When I woke up, she looked like Keith Richards!"

Very interesting. But makes sense, because beer is the American national drink.

The Russian expression is: "There are no ugly women, but there can be not enough vodka."

Which makes perfect sense since vodka is the Russian national drink.

I personally dislike both beer and vodka, but it is interesting that the exact same phenomenon is described using references to different common drinks.

Fascinating!

let me check what the Germans have to say

beer, I bet...

You assume it's about fake breasts when many of these women also have amazing toned bodies, pretty face and butt.

I have seen toned butts, but no pretty faces.

This woman - Jenna Jamison, right?

Well... what can I say in order not to offend her fans?

Let me put it this way (so it is not offensive to anybody) - she is, simply, no Marilyn Monroe, and no alterations to her appearance have, apparently, been able to solve this problem. She is not ugly, but she is no Marilyn Monroe for sure.

File:Jenna Jameson 2008.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

She has good enough facial features that have been professionally accentuated. Still, no Marilyn Monroe. Look at this image (one of the most iconic pics of Monroe). A huge difference...

You are obviously more informed so there might very well be pretty faces I did not see in my cursory exploration.

My question about the fake breasts and the dismal state of the art of surgical technologies had to do with the "why" - why have such horrendous looking breasts? What would be bad about simply well toned bodies with natural breasts? There are such things as proportions and oh how important they are, esthetically. Imagine Monroe having breasts twice her actual size. Would it be beautiful?.. no. So proportions are important. Fake breasts look so fake not only because they are too symmetrical, sit unnaturally on the chest, and for a whole host of other reasons, but also because they are often disproportionate to the rest of the body.

If I get what webgoji is saying, hugely disproportionate breasts are a hyperbole in the world of fantasy. It is not an attempt at true beauty - it is a hyperbole. Webgoji?

It depends on the women and the surgery. Some look better before the surgery and some look better after.

She is very cool. A proportionate, real body, a playful facial expression, not too much make-up, and, even wrinkled foot soles (ha, what a good idea):

(the url says porn, but the image is of the soles of the feet without any extras, so - posting within the guidelines).

Very cool indeed. Night and day with Jenna jamison. And, she looks lively. Jamison's eyes on the wikipedia pic look completely dead.

this is a propos of what?

I commented that the woman you suggested as a better alternative to Jenna Jamison (sp?) does indeed look very real. And, her facial expression is lively and not dumb. I do not see any problems with her.

I have looked more, and yes, there are genuinely pleasant looking women. What I do not get is how it does not get boring.

Plus, I do not get how looking at the private parts move in and out not get boring. I watched - with my partner - for, say, a minute, but then got bored. It is repetitive and uninteresting. I do not see any point in it.

I guess if you are aroused, then it stops being boring. Or does not become boring in the first place?

I don't find garden variety porn arousing, hamster. The women are too fake, and have no personality.
Thanks for this!

Same. I don't get this part either. I suppose it reminds the man watching it of the feeling of intercourse simply by watching it occur on the screen and this brings back the memory of being inside you or other women.

As far as I'm concerned though, it IS boring and repetitive.
Thanks for this!

I think when it comes to porn, a lot of the time, beggars can't be choosers. Not every pretty woman wants to be in that industry. Not every ugly one does either, but you get my point. I think after you reach a certain maturity...as soon as boobs are not a new thing...the bigger the better idea dwindles and is replaced by not saggy screwy looking, natural is better. I've heard from a lot of men that as long as they look nice, it doesn't matter the size. To a certain point, boobs are boobs, they are all good. I think it's all personal preference as well. But I would be willing to bet the woman who get them worked on have the belief men like it more, not because the majority of men actually do.
Thanks for this!

You're dead on Hamster-Bamster. You can't look at those women in porn and say, "That is beauty," because it isn't natural Beauty isn't about disproportionately large breasts, cheaply died hair and press on nails. It's how everything fits together correctly. To be blunt, it's a fantasy image of a sexual toy, a fairy tale slut.

Another example would be comic book heroines. Their legs are impossibly long, their waists are impossibly thin, but it's about fantasy ... just an image in a fantasy world.

A guy can watch porn and think, "Oh yeah!" because their mind is separating that image from the true reality. But then when he is looking for a mate, he'll go after a "real woman", one with natural true beauty.

Another question has been on my list of "things to settle in my mind before I die" .

So, I keep reading about men who turn to porn any time they have a free second by using their phones.

And I think to myself: "That, for real??"

Because, look, phones are kind of small. I realize there are those extra big screen smartphones I do not have, but I doubt that all those hoards of men who, reportedly, look up porn on their phones have those extra big screens. And even extra big screens are not THAT big. So, what do they do? Do they squint hard to figure out what exactly is going on on the screen?

I can see how one would enjoy porn on a tablet computer, a regular screen, a big flat tv. But to strain your eyes all day long staring into a phone seems really weird to me. Really weird.
