Even though I was born a girl, I've been experiencing gender identity issues since I was very young. I've always been a tom boy. I've preferred male fashion over female fashion since I was young. I've always gotten along better with guys over girls, and I started to find myself sexually attracted to women as well as men. As I've gotten older, I slowly learned to accept my femininity, and like to think I've blended my personal style into a gender neutral way.
However, some days I wake up and look in the mirror and not see a girl at all. The feelings have gotten more frequent and stronger, that I've invested in a second wardrobe for those days I feel like a man, and a second identity. I gave myself a male name. I have bouts of gender fluidity that can last anywhere to half a day or weeks. Does anyone else feel this way? |

Hello! Yes. You're not alone.
I identify as genderqueer. I had many days where I'd wake up and not feel like me. What you're feeling is gender dysphoria. And it can be terrible, cause anxiety, and out of body feelings. Give yourself time, you'll find out what works for you. If you ever need to talk you can PM me, as well.

Thanks for getting back to me. Dysphoria, what an accurate name for it. It just sucks that I'm also so sensitive to other peoples judgement. If I had the courage, I'd cross dress all the time. I'd happily flaunt my masculine side, but I'm so passive. I'd conform to anything as long as I don't have to deal with anymore negativity. Did you give yourself a different name? My male name is Theodore. |

It takes a lot to begin to present yourself as you want. It really does. But remember, please remember, that you can identify how you feel comfortable no matter how you dress. It doesn't make you any lesser! I promise. Be who you are, even if it's to yourself, you will ease those feelings of dysphoria a lot. That is how I started.
I was "lucky" and was given a gender neutral name at birth (my name is Grey) so I haven't changed it. But sometimes it feels like I should.
