Sooooo DeadMau5's birthday is in January. DeadMau5 is a dubstep artist who wears a mouse head. I'd like to do something totally crazy and I think I need some sense talked into me.

What I was planning was on a separate account I'd upload a picture of me wearing the mau5head and a corset with leggings, etc. and holding a flogger and then in another photo me holding up a birthday cupcake with a Happy Birthday message with an attached "It's time for your birthday beatdown" tweet.

It sounds completely crazy, but it will be completely anonymous and there would be no way of anyone finding out who I really am because I'd be wearing a Mau5head that would hide my face and a separate account so no one could find out who I am. And I'd tell the photographer not to post it on his own website. I've wanted to do a fetish shoot for a long time, and I think that by being anonymous it will be a lot safer.

Still, I think it's crazy though my friends think it's a good idea. I'm also wondering how DeadMau5 will actually react. He may think it's funny or he might think it's creepy. He can be a bit unpredictable.

So I need some rational thoughts on this, because I have two months to think about it and I've been going back on forth with the pros and cons.

Personally, I would advise everyone to never, ever post "questionable" pictures of themselves online.

1. If you go on to have kids, their friends may find them and then bully your kids with them. "Dude, check it out. It's your mom!"
2. The Internet is never truly anonymous. There are always ways to find out who's behind the mouse mask beginning with IP tracking and going from there. It's really not that hard. And the photographers are always notorious for letting things out.
3. There are a ton of creeps that scour the Internet. Referencing (2) above said creeps may do something awful up to locating you and worse.

So yeah, for safety's sake, I would always suggest against it.
Thanks for this!

You're clearly paranoid. It's quite hard to trace somebody. You can only trivially trace an I.P. address to an individual with the help of an ISP, especially considering I.P. address are generally pooled and don't represent an individual, just an individual connection at a specific point in time.

Actually, from what I'm learning about myself you may be more right than you know. I wrote about something I had done a few years ago chasing someone using the I.P. to the first computer they hit, BUT ... from what I've discovered this weekend, that may not have actually happened. It seems I may have false memories and not actually remember some real events.

So yeah ... um ... please disregard what I had suggested before as it may have been based on a completely fabricated experience.

I still think you have a valid point Webgoji. It's very possible that I could be found out.

No one will ever find out, although the resulting outcome in the end could go one of two ways if they did, if you have what is equivalent to a grub worm in a turtle neck, uhhh, not so good and there could be repercussion's,... on the other hand, if you have a huge veiny appendage who cares!! I wouldn't!! Windmill that thing about!!
