I'm currently awaiting a full Psych Eval and expect a diagnosis of BP and or BPD
I know in order to get a proper Diagnosis I have to be completely open and honest but I am terrified of sharing one thing. During two of my manic phases I was sexually active on cam, via pics and voice etc with strangers, I don't have a problem sharing that, the thing I'm most afraid of sharing is that I twice allowed my dog to 'lick' me. I'm so ashamed of it now and it hasn't happened since my last manic episode 18 months ago. Do you think I should share this info ? or will the other sexual stuff be enough ?? I live in rural Ireland and I guess I'm just expecting that one thing to be taking far too seriously out of context. I'm terrified of the consequences of sharing it. It only happened twice

I think honesty really is the best policy, there have been posts like this on PC before - so your experience is hardly strange. So you've just got to hope that bodes for a psychiatrist who's also dealt with this before, likelihood is that she or he has. Hopefully once you've told them you have something difficult to put across they'll try and be as open and warm in their approach as possible. I suppose you've just got to keep reminding yourself of your desired goal - if you tell them everything you can, every extreme, every worry etc they'll most likely be better placed to help you. That's the whole point isn't it? I hope you find a way of telling them, hopefully other posters here will be able to provide more suggestions. Best of luck all the same.

I agree w/ spock, honesty is the best policy. You can't the proper attention and help if you don't tell them all of the issues. Good luck.
