Me, for sure: Geodon (high dose), Risperdal (any dose).
Me, most likely: Topamax (low, migraine prevention dose).
Heard about other people suffering from Prozac. I have not had problems from Prozac, I actually got the drive back when I started on Prozac so no complaints from me.

What else?

And, why? I know that AP's cause weight gain because they screw up the metabolism and some also lead to an increased appetite. Why do psych drugs screw up sexuality? Why are they so pernicious? What is the mechanism of harm?

Oh, and I have read negative reports about Seroquel, but personally have not had any sexual problems on it.

I'm scared my meds have caused me permanent sexual arousal dysfunction and weaker orgasms. I forget what it's called, a four-word term like SSID or something. Anyway, I'm not sure which caused what at what dosages, but I know going off meds totally only helped a little bit. I would do almost anything to have my sex drive and strong orgasms back!

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that! I have a bipolar friend in RL, Joe, and he has something pretty horrible - unhedonic orgasms. He does come (ejaculate), but he feels no pleasure from it whatsoever. I believe it is from Effexor but I am not positive.
Thanks for this!

I am on psych meds, and medical ones as well.
my psych meds are welbrutrin (may side effect, otherwise no effect whatsoever), Seroquel (only effect is to destroy my sleeping patterns. side effects? I don't know.) and Prozac (again no discernable effects, but could be side effects.)

on the other hand I take 5 different blood pressure pills three times a day. (danger here is that if I stop taking them I lose my kidneys and will have to go on dialysis and transplant option) as for side effects, I don't know.

what I do know is that something I take or a combination of the meds I take cause me a rather strange sexual dysfunction.

#1 equipment failure
#2 reduced ejaculate to the point of almost not having any.
#3 and the strangest part. I can masturbate and without ever achieving erection I can ejaculate without orgasm, ejaculate to orgasm, and achieve orgasm with no ejaculate.

I have mentioned this to doctors, pdocs, and therapists and no one seems to think it is even worth asking questions about.

don't you just love how some doctors listen to you?

I know. Some doctors are good though, and my current one is. She recommended that I take Gingko Biloba as it has helped all of her patients with sexual problems caused by psych meds. Gingko does help me. I highly recommend it. You can get it from Amazon. Start with 60 mg and see how you do; if you are fine, increase to 120 mg a day. Gingko is one of the most researched supplements and is widely used to prevent and counteract cognitive decline, so I plan to take it indefinitely, even if I eventually go off psych meds. There were rumors of gingko's causing cancer but the info was not valid and reputable sources rebutted it.

It does act a bit like aspirin though in terms of blood thinning, so given that you take blood pressure meds, I would run taking Gingko by the family doctor.

back when I was in school, (when my BP ran to instant death stroke levels) before I started taking BP meds, I used Ginko as a study aid because of the propaganda that it helped with memory retention. I don't know if it did or not, as I always aced my exams anyway but I figured I would try it. I did not know it could be used for medication side effects in the dysfunctional area.

so thank you for the information, I will ask thr doc when next I see one.
