I hope I'm not going to get into trouble about wading into political waters here. If so, hopefully the mods will catch and delete me.
My family is just excited today. We are on the surface a "traditional" family of four with issues. Today, I'm proud to say I live in Oregon where a Federal (IMO) wonderful Judge overturned Oregon's ban on LGBQ marriages! Well, this judge sorta gave "heads-up" last week that the ruling would fall this way. Today, Hundreds of couples were lined up at courthouses around the state to get married. I'm so happy for my many Oregon friends who can get married here, where they live! I'm proud to say my 2 teenage son's and their friends are completely perplexed as to why this is even an issue. Two people love each other, why can't they get married? Granted, we live in a very liberal city and half of my kiddo's friends from pre-school on had two mommies. Nonetheless, I'd like to give our younger generation credit for simply "getting it." IMO, another victory for civil rights. We've got a way to go, but we've got our boxing gloves on and hopefully, within my children's lifetimes, marriage equality in all 50 states will be a right, not a privelege. |

I'm happy for you and the other couples wanting to get married. I'm glad Oregon stood up and approved it.
