I think it depends on the person..

something that would look awesome on one person could look horrible on another. Let's face it NOBODY wants to see me in a mini skirt

Mike - in MidWest perhaps not. We have guys here wearing Scottish plaid skirts. You know the kind of guys who would man a tech support station in a company - tattoos beards unsmiling faces, very hairy legs, nerdiest looks, and, short Scottish skirts. Funny as hell.

Depends on your body. Cleavage is always my go to, mainly because I am busty though. Wear something that accentuates your best feature.

A t-shirt that has a curved shape to it and a pair of well-fitting jeans go well together if you are shapely enough (just enough is enough, if you know what I mean).

I think it varies from person to person. If you are looking hot in a dress, it is not necessary that other person will also look hot because personality of every person is different.

Still take the advice. Ik for me personally, I wouldn't feel confident to pull that off, but that's just me.

it is not about confidence - your proportions are off for this kind of outfit. It works for women with medium size breasts max, and you are busty. It does not work on flat-chested women, either - it works well on women who are in the middle of the range, cup-size-wise. A nice feminine silhouette, but not too curvy. You'd be too curvy for it, which is not bad - just a different shape that requires a different approach.

You're right. I'm just really self conscious so it's something I have to overcome. I have a fairly small waist but giant hips and am larger on top. Maybe the original op can explain her body type?

Dress in what makes you comfortable, and makes you feel happy and confident. (Just stay away from baggy t-shirts and sweatpants...). Other people will pick up on that, and a person who is confident and secure in him/herself will be attractive. And show off the parts of your body you are proud of.
