Hi there. I found myself at thouts that I not so manly anymore. It changed my hobbies, my life stile and even my sexual preferences. It making my scared to be honest. I feel uncomfortable. My doctor told me that I've got low testosterone level and testosterone replacament tharapy will help me to get myself back. What do I have to do? Anyone either took a similar therapy?

hi derekdva
well the low T explain the feminine changes that have been happening to you. taking the therapy will return to back to your masculine self. it is up to you which traits you find more attractive in yourself to determine whether you want to go thru with the therapy or not. welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome

Hello DerekDva: If you have questions, with regard to low T, there is no better place to go on-line than to Noah Thomas' YouTube channel: "Bignoknow". Noah has this condition & he uploads videos about his experiences with having low T & being treated for it. Also Noah's father is a physician. So Noah has the inside track when it comes to medical information. I highly recommend Noah's channel. He's a great guy! If you want to check out Noah's channel, but can't find it, let me know here on PC. I'll put a link to it here in your Thread. Best wishes!

I don't have experience with low testosterone in the sense that the other responders have, but I actually suspect that low testosterone levels cannot change your personality to the degree that you're describing. Testosterone affects physical and some mood characteristics, but definitely not a person's personality. I am a trans person who was assigned female at birth and my body naturally produces estrogen, and for the past few months I've been taking testosterone to alter my body. In generally it has made me a happier and more active person, but it has definitely not changed my hobbies or lifestyle, and it cannot change your "mental gender". I would caution you that testosterone replacement therapy may not give you the results you desire, and it's worth examining the feelings you're having now and where they originate from. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being not-manly, unless it's something you don't want. Good luck.

Maybe it's a mental disorders but I feel that something wrong im my body in general. And tests proved that. I understand what do you mean but in my case its a little bit different. Probably this therapy will not fix everything in me but at least it will give me the strength for improving... Thank you.
