I was born in the 40s, Back then it was a shame to be born inter sexed. meaning both sexes. People today doesn't accept it so can you imagine back then a freak being born?
I didn't ask for what happened to me, I didn't even know about it until in the late eightys when I had my first and almost my last major surgery. I had gangreene of my intestines and male organs. They told my wife, two choices, live with girl parts or die. she chose, live. It's been hard since then and getting harder as I get older. Maybe I should join a circus and just let people laugh at me.

So many people don't understand what intersexed is, and some don't want to understand. Life is so hard for some of us, those of us who aren't "normal." And it's so easy for others to ridicule what they don't understand or accept. Please feel free to talk here with us...I'm sure you'll find a lot of acceptance.

KimDi -

I certainly cannot understand how you feel or the magnitude of what you have been through being born inter-sexed. However, it is not something for a circus freak show - thank goodness I think those days are over (at least I hope).

I have watched specials on hermaphrodites and know that being inter-sexed is confusing enough but throw in parental response, humankind response, and potential issues with two different sets of hormones, and it is not a pleasant situation.

I hope that you are receiving medical and psychological assistance for this. Being intersexed is being intersexed, just as being mentally ill is being mentally ill. It does not make you a good or bad person in itself - your thoughts, feelings, and how you treat mankind is what makes you who you are and we have control over that.

I'm glad you shared and I hope you can feel better about this.

Tranquility

our bodies do not constitute our identities! Be proud of living life between the lines and in the margins. Let it give you strength! Also, have you read middlesex?

Wow, Thank you all for your kind comments. This life, living between two worlds is the worst for me. Yes I am under psychiatric treatment but somettimes, no most of the time it doesn't seem to help. Sometimes my doctor says things that cut to the quik. I thank my God for your compassion, He is my only hope.

Just wanted to add that I don't think there is anything "freak" like about you. It is only a small difference and in your heart you are just the same as any of us.

Hope you stick around and let us support you!

You have all of my support. World of uncaring people be gentle with yourself. As Rainbowzz said, it's a small difference in the overall scheme of things. There is more to a person than their physical gender.

I'm sorry for the actions of uncaring people. However, we all deal with private issues, that no one outside of a spouse probably needs to know about. I hope you are still in therapy to help you understand your value as a human being is not based upon what is, or isn't between your legs. ((((hugs))))
