I know this sounds weird.
On social network (Instagram, Twitter) people followed their favorite actor or famous person. In my case, I followed lot of gay porn actors. Nothing to do with their pornographic scenes, but I mainly focus on their lifestyle, such as weight training, clothes or stuffs they have in real life. My problem is that I see them as idols and want to have everything like them. Is it wrong ... Should I stop? |

You didn't specify your sexual orientation but I guess you're heterosexual
You think it could make you gay in any way? I think you can still be heterosexual and like the habits of people with a different sexual orientation.. it's not wrong, probably they train better than heterosexual porn actors.. |

Hello james23: No... I don't thing it's "wrong". But, if you're watching their pornographic productions, you should be aware that watching porn can become addictive & can lead to a lot of sad outcomes. I've read quite a few of these sad stories over the period of time I've been here on PC.
Beyond that, the only potential harm I can see in this is that it may be causing you to develop unrealistic expectations for yourself & keep you from performing successfully in your day-to-day life... sort-of like any person who becomes so wrapped up in fantasy that they can't function in the real world. But as long as you're mindful not to fall into those sorts of traps, I don't personally see anything wrong with what you're doing. I see this is your first post here on PC. So... to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! May the time you spend here be of benefit. |

James, I wouldn't say it's "wrong" but I wouldn't say its good or harmless either. Do some research on porn-stars and their legal issues. Generally, these are dudes who don't have much "normal" success in real life but happen to have a big pecker. So, they turn to porn, make a lot of money fast, blow it on drugs, alcohol and toys only to find out that in a few years they are again penniless with nothing left to show for it except social diseases, drug addiction, psych problems, debt and a huge, un-explainable hole in their resume. they make professional athletes look like angels!
All-in-all, try to keep your idols to people who value things that help your community, in the fields of business, science or education. Idols who can't give you anything back are no more that comic-book characters. Good luck! |

So if I take what you wrote & substitute "gay porn actor" with like "you tube actor" your question is.....is idolizing someone bad.
Why does it matter if they are a gay porn star? That might help. Thanks __________________ "Doubt is like dye. Once it spreads into the fabric of excuses you've woven, you'll never get rid of the stain." Jodi Picoult |
